Seems to me there's a major backlash going on.

Anyone else get the feeling that all the gains we may have made in the social, environmental, or political arena(s) have all fallen by the wayside in these last ten years or so?

There used to be an environmental movement that was actually moving people. There was a feminist movement...

Seeing the coke ad in this thread, and thinking about an ad I saw for cool whip--actually advertising that it's now available in an aerosol can--makes me wonder what happened to our progress?

Speaking specifically to this: the aerosol will now be Ozone friendly. There's the progress.

Look at any other similar whipped cream can. They're propelled by NO (Nitrous Oxide, or 'laughing gas'), not CFCs. In fact, even when our parents were using aerosol deodorant, whipped cream was propelled with NO... probably because whatever propellent is used directly contacts the cream.

Haven't you ever done a Whip-it*?

* (inhaling the NO from a can of whipped cream)

On a completely unrelated note: Does anyone remember when Holinger acquired a controlling interest in Southam?

Nobody believes anything anymore.
The most simple and obvious, as well as the most sacred, ideas are instantly suborned and compromised by mainstream media. Politicians pay lip-service during campaings and do the exact opposite the minute they're elected.
I think the general feeling is: Nothing I do makes any difference, so why bust my hump?
