Incidentally, while I would agree that consumption growth implies a growth in GDP, the salient point is that absent consumption there would be little need for production.

I had started a GDP thread in Labour and Consumption because I thought it was more appropriate there.

However, I'll leave it up to you where you want to do this.

I'll post here what I posted there to begin the thread. I'll take the opportunity to correct a spelling error.

There were no takers over there, apparently the GDP is not a popular topic. However, it may attract some interest, and given it is a number that is used for a variety of analyses, it's probably worth investigating.
