Today's local news: "Cops won't enforce gun registry laws...until billion dollar boondoogle sorted out"

Originally estimated to cost $2 million, now it is projected to cost 500 TIMES MORE!!!

Not 50% more, not twice or even three times as much, but FIVE HUNDRED TIMES MORE!!!

Lots of tsk, tsk, no heads roll, no excuses given, the citizenry takes it calmly, with a mindset totally detached from reality.

No explanation other than mind boggling incompetence and inconceivable levels of fraud could possibly explain the discrepancy.

Cynicism demands that we don't get surprised or shocked by ANYTHING.

This is an example of total breakdown between the citizenry and their rulers, a total failure of social cohesion.

And when other, more vital, examples follow, we will just shrug and learn to live with them. Or cry on each other's shoulders that "how were we to know"?

It is very sad to have to despise one's own culture. But there it is...

The federal Liberals don't have an absolutely viciously opposed opposition and a gigantic media drive-by smear job being done on them year in and year out.

Remember the way Gordo and his band of nincompoops along with the chorus gallery of the media did an immense hatchet job on the NDP? Yeah, that NDP. The NDP that watched a fast ferry project go from $210 million to $400 million. That's a two-fold increase, and they got absolutely slaughtered over it.

But the federal Liberals? Ho-hum, Paul Martin, Jean Chretien, and John Manley are all real good pals, best buddies with the media owners, and gosh, how well soft-pedalling works!
