We will consult widely, and then do precisely whatever the hell the oil industry tells us we wanted to do in the first place.The future of a group that makes recommendations to Alberta on limiting the impact of oil sands development is in doubt because the province has no plans to act on its proposals for sustainable land use.
According to a work plan drawn up by Alberta's Ministry of Sustainable Resource Development and obtained by The Globe and Mail, Alberta has no plans at present to follow the main recommendations made in June by the Cumulative Environmental Management Association, which comprises oil companies, federal and provincial government agencies, natives and ecology groups.
