Temple Grandin is an autistic university professor with incredible insight into animal behaviour. She did a lot of landmark work with cattle, for example...I've seen how the principles she has described work in practice. For one thing, she is so very, very patient. Animals in Translation

Wow, that is fascinating. Though I'm kind of relieved that human actions aren't so easy to predict.

I saw her intersted on hot type. She was interesting but made the unfortunate mistake of forcing human thought on cows. She assumed that cows would rather be slaughtered then live in the wild.
Sadly many people make this speciesist assumption.

Are you sure? That really doesn't sound like something Temple Grandin would come up with. What she did say on 60 Minutes years ago was something like "Well, if you think this is rough, go see how animals die in the wild." This was in response to a question like "How could a person who loves animals so much collaborate with the slaughterhouse industry?"
Just checking. Temple Grandin is kind of a hero of mine. Also wanted to point out that the "savants" inhabit only a fraction of the autistic spectrum.
