He's very, very cute.

But why is he in there alone? Where's his mommy? Doesn't this violate his right to privacy? I mean, what happens when the little guy wants to feel out his new intimate bits?

Enquiring minds . . .

*hmph*
He was sleeping.

I tried to wake him with my mouse.
*poke* *poke* *poke*
And even shouted a little.
"WAKE UP PANDY BEAR!!!"

But he just kept sleeping.
Panda bears are no fun.

Hmph indeed. That's why people like you are not allowed into zoos with "walking sticks".

(ok, ok, I admit I prodded the little guy with my mouse once or twice too . . . )

Happy to report that in the evening I am wrong! Mom is with him now, cuddling and cleaning the little gem. Or perhaps eating him alive. Hard to tell from the blurry pictures.

In the town where I went to college there was a mini-zoo in one of the city parks. They had a badger there that I was keen to get a peek at, but in four years of visits (at all hours of the day and night) all I ever saw was his backside sticking out of his little house while he dozed.

We posited that it was all a scam, and he was taxidermied at some point in the 50s. (Is 'taxidermied' a word?)

There once was a lad from the city,
Who met what he thought was a kitty.
He gave it a pat,
And said, "Nice little cat!"
We're sending a wreath out of pity.

You could start by dimming the lights and putting a little jazz in the CD player.

I'm out. I don't romance pandas for action. Or penguins. I'll only consider it for anything from the feline family.

I meant my time zone -- which was about 3:40 AM his time, apparently.

Yeepers, it looks like he's gained a few kilograms overnight!

Well, that's him lying flat out on his tummy. We watched him struggle into that position after mama left -- he kept slipping back. Aw. I wanted to get in there and help him, puir wee thing.

You should have plenty of time to work out the bugs in the pandacam.

Amazingly enough, mom has just left and baby looks sound asleep with his head pushed against a wall. Probably have to wait another 24 hours to see any more action!
