Bush Insults the Millions who Died Fighting the Nazis

(I don't know who this is, nor will I vouch for it authenticity or content, but here is some communist US WWII war Vet talking up Stalingrad. Perhaps it reflects some of the real grass roots emotions of the time.)

quote:
After that the war turned in the Soviets’ favor. Amid heavy fighting, the Soviets were pushing the Nazi beasts out of the Soviet Union and inevitably back to Germany. By the time I landed in Italy, the situation on the Russian Front was so favorable that, at our first orientation, a U.S. Army captain told us, "Uncle Joe will save you yet."

I was taken aback. I didn’t expect a U.S. officer to say something positive about Stalin. Being naive and incredulous, I turned to my buddy and asked, "Who is Uncle Joe?" His answer was short and sweet, "Stalin, you dope."

Our present situation is not totally unlike the Red Army’s at Stalingrad. The international working class has its back to the wall. The bosses gloat over the demise of the international communist movement. Our forces are small. Tactically, the bosses are stronger than we are. But because of our communist ideology we can reverse the present situation. Our forces can ultimately triumph. Stalingrad was one outstanding example of this.

WW II was a war against fascist terror, of which U.S. imperialism is now the world’s champion.

Idiotic claptrap. It discredits both the authour of the article and the poster.

The defence of Stalingrad was not all that heroic. Stalin had forces posted at the other side of the city with orders to shoot any Soviets who tried to leave the city. Their choice was to fight and die or to flee and die. Most chose the former.

Your reading comprehension is slack again.

So here's this old guy gnawing on his dreams and his memories, a guy who actually fought in the war to save your fucking country from the fucking Nazi's, a grunt, a nobody, but a guy who went there to do what you think is right and like the snob that you are all you can do is shit on his memories and dreams.

What a chickenhawk punk you are.

*takes moment of silence before posting further*

Twenty million Soviets died in World War 2 to defeat the Nazi menace.

Three million died in the KZs. Many millions more died because the only way the Soviets could win was by force of sheer numbers.

We would do well to remember what real sacrifice entails.

Two hundred thousand Germans also died at Stalingrad. For years their bodies were left to rot in the fields after the war.

It is also to be noted that two million German youth in the HitlerJugend died for a madman's glory.
