On last nights CTV National News, Sandy did an expose on Canadian soldiers who have been injured in Afghanistan, and who are in hospital or rehab, apparently the 2k danger pay they were receiving for going to Afghanistan, is immediately removed from their pay.

Of course, this is the same thing the Bush administration did/does.

Now the question is should they keep on getting it, or should it be severed?

From a former soldier, you get danger pay when you've living in a battlezone in danger of being shot at. When you're in Germany in a hospital you are no longer in danger of being shot at so you're no longer in danger of getting shot at.

This is the dumbest piece of media BS I've seen in a while.

I agree, this is media bs. Leaving aside for a moment the war criminals who sent our soldiers to Afghanistan, who the hell are the media to determine pay scales? Giving danger pay to disabled soldiers makes exactly as much sense as continuing to issue them with ammunition.

The job of soldiers is to kill, wound, die and be wounded. Specific benefits and premiums are earned according to work performed. Anyone who doesn't like it should bloody well choose a less risky career. As for the media bleeding hearts, if they feel sorry for wounded soldiers, they should demand that all the troops be brought home where they belong - not keep paying them blood money to salve the guilt-ridden softies!

What's next? Keep the widowers, widows and orphans on full salary?

If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.
