Too bad she lost. But I thought it was cute.

I was going to say something nasty about this couple running as opponents just so they could double-dip on the campaign contributions (as they undoubtedly come from the same sources), but I thought better of it. I'm just not a nasty guy.

Not cute. Just shows to what extent US politics is tweedledum and tweedledee.

Well, I think it's cute, and an excellent example of tweedledum tweedledee American politics.

In Richmond we have two city councellors. Evelina Halsey-Brandt and Sue Halsey-Brandt. Evelina is the wife of Greg Halsey-Brandt the former mayor and current BC Liberal Cabinet minister (some junior portfolio). Sue is his former wife.

They all ran initially as Civic New Democrats. Greg split with his wife, married Evelina then became an independant before taking a BC Liberal nomination. Evelina switched to TEAM was defeated and then re-elected as independant. Sue was a school board chair, quit the NDP over agricultural land policy and ran for council on a centre/left slate, topping the polls.

I don't think it can get messier than that!

Now all we need is some loud orchestral music and a libretto in Italian.
