The problem is not just message. It’s deeds - past and present ... Holbrooke gripes that "our message isn’t getting through because we have bad messages and bad messengers." No doubt. Yet how effective can the policy be, if it is so difficult to explain?

It's too bad all this had to happen so early in Dubya's administration. It would have been nice if he'd lost the PR war a little closer to election time. As it stands, he'll have plenty of time to learn lessons from his dad's failures before he needs to start campaining.

The only worry Dubya will have is if this "war" ends too soon. Then the Dems can thump him from pillar to post over that TAX CUT and how he gave it all away to his rich bum-buddies.

Dems for Congressional majorities in 2002!

the media might be rolling the closing credits on this show, but the ugly part of it hasn't even started.
anybody remember the rangers in Somalia, the russians ,mopping up ten years ago
who do you think was shaving their beards off yesterday?
george's vision is a mythic one of white hats riding off into the sunset. once the warlords mobilize against each other and ethnic cleansing starts, there is no good end to a journey started so badly.
