VANCOUVER – The B.C. Court of Appeal has ruled the injunction used to oust protesters from the old Woodward's building in the fall of 2002 should be set aside.

Well, that's great. So, uh, does that mean they can go back now? Or maybe the cops will have to give back the stuff they stole? No, huh?

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy about the ruling. But it seems somewhat irrelevant at this stage; what it shows me is that the authorities often don't need validity, they just need a decent facade of same to get what they want. Facts on the ground.

By the way, that link doesn't seem to be working.
