The media is up to its usual tricks - and not too subtle - in shutting out the NDP and making the election appear a two-party race. How do we counter this? The do-it-yourself bumper sticker can be productive and is easily made. I prefer to tape the message inside the rear window. If you tape it to the bumper, insert the message into a clear plastic bag, or cover with Saran wrap. A few ideas:

BEST INSURANCE = NDP

SICK OF CORRUPTION?
ELECT THE NDP

STOP THE LIB/CON PENDULUM
VOTE NDP

DON'T WANNA JOIN THE U.S. WAR MACHINE?
VOTE NDP

Go ahead. But unless you have a zero-emissions car, you'll look pretty silly driving around and polluting with a Green Party bumper-sticker on your gas-burnin' pollution-mobile.

I quite like an ad I saw in the paper lately. It has a great huge photo of a polar bear, and the words

YO! WHERE'S MY ICE FLOE?

PS: I am not a Green supporter, although I am green. I think the Canadian Green party s***s.

However, I think the ad is clever. I wish our political parties could come up with ads that clever.

Ah, I like the DON'T BLAME ME series. So how about:

DON'T BLAME ME - I VOTED ANYBODY BUT HARPER

And I too ride a bike, pulling two kids, most of the time so we'll have to make a flag of it.

While I am a fan of the "don't blame me" and the "you don't know jack" car accoutrements, both of which have graced my beast, I still remain fond of "Buzz Off - I'm Voting NDP".

A friend favours the slightly less subtle "Vote NDP or Die" slogan. He says that this is not a personal threat, but merely because he believes voting for the other parties may speed along the apocalypse. Due to fears about road rage, he has decided to impart this pearl of wisdom verbally rather than in bumper sticker form.

Oooh. I've got one!

I'm voting green. Yes, this is a hybrid car.

Now, I don't own a hybrid car, I have the bank account of a college student, can't afford one. I live 15 km and a two hundred meters downhill from my college, I can't bike in winter (I bike in the summer) and we have the s**tiest bus system in BC here which can't get me to and from college. I drive a Sunfire, which gets 39 Miles per gallon.

I try.

roughly where do you live and go to school? curious mostly because of my interest in transit. My wife has a horrible time with transit to her office; the ride there is exceedingly dangerous during dark winter commutes.

edit: I see you are up in the Okanogan (from the all candidates thread) - well that makes perfect sense. Cold, dark, snow and ice-- yuk. I know a couple brave (stupid) people that ride in those conditions. Both have been hit by cars multiple times. Both are parents. Both are married to one another. I get nervous for their kids all the time...

Understood. I was in the same kind of boat in some ways... Got rid of my Del Sol few years ago... My last bit of time in Vancouver (before I left Canada for awhile). I was 'La Queen' of public transportation and walking. It grows on ya...

Now I am in Tokyo and I ONLY use public transportation. I try, too.

Now this is a fun thread!

I too cycle, even out here in Alberta (except when it gets down to 20 below, then I car pool). 20 miles a day to and from work, with a sticker on the frame that will simply read:

GREEN PARTY

Although I really like "don't blame me, I voted Green'. That's funny.

Agreed. Now, where are those Button Ladies? They are fonts of wisdom and resources in this area.

It's water under the bridge, but what a pity that over this period of Federal government scandals and their investigations thousands of vehicles were not carrying the message: DON'T BLAME ME - I VOTED NDP

Why you would simply have 'Green Party' as a sign might be because you might perhaps be Cameron Wakefield, the Green Party candidate in Edmonton Strathcona? Of course it could be entirely confusion based on your babble-nick.
