Jeez. And to think I liked him so much in Barney Miller...

"Say, Fish, Wojo... you guys ever thought about the Endtimes?"

Yes, I know. Linden. Different guy. I do miss that show.

I've never seen such a superficial analysis of a political event anywhere in the world.

Does he just make this stuff up as he goes along??

Remember, this is the Hal Lindsey who gave us The Late Great Planet Earth back in 1970.

I'm surprised he still mentions it on his websites -- but then, it was a jillion-seller, and doubtless many people still believe it. By now, according to Mr. Lindsey, the Third Temple was supposed to have been re-established in Jerusalem, two hundred million Chinese were supposed to have invaded the USSR, the ten-horned beast of the Book of Revelation (i.e., the then ten-nation European Economic Community) was supposed to be raging and snorting across the land, and taking one thing with another, we were supposed to have been in for a spell of fairly Apocalyptic weather.

Perhaps, the EU having grown several more horns, it became unwieldy and lazy, throwing the whole schedule off. Anyway, that's about the quality of discourse we can expect from Mr. Lindsey.

But my dear fellow. You say this while George W. "they hate us for our freedoms" Bush still bestrides the White House halls like an animatronic GI Joe?

He says that like it's a bad thing.

Yes, "threatened" is a distinctly odd spledding of "promised."

I love this bit especially:

quote:
...what constitutes a liberal in Canada has no equivalent in U.S. politics – it is much closer to European socialism than anything else.

I'm just imagining the contempt with which Lindsey would pronounce the phrase "European socialism" -- both terms, no doubt, referring to something equally repugnant to his mind.

The religious right wing and Ronald Raygun thought he had a major movie role to play in HollyWood's last film ... Armageddon.

Texas born, Michael Lind says that conservatism was hatched in the deep south and is still based on religious revivalism and racism. God help us.

Reagan? I don't think so. He wasn't a very religious man actually...The Religious Reich just supported him because, unlike Carter, he was dumb enough to fatten their pockets.

Well, the predictions were all perfectly accurate, however God is running a little bit behind schedule.
