This is unbelievable. This is just not the way regulated professional organizations are supposed to work. It's preposterous! It should be professionals in the field that are elected by their membership in their professional licensing body to guide the profession!

A dispute has been simmering since May, when the B.C. Liberals passed Bill 51, the Teaching Profession Amendment Act, and dismissed the teachers who had been elected to the governing council of their professional body. Education Minister Christy Clark replaced the elected councillors with 20 appointees and effectively took political control of the college. Of more than 30 professional colleges in B.C., the teachers' is the only one not governed by a majority of practitioners of that profession.
