“Buddy Bear” and four other orphaned black bears from Quebec are moving to the Aspen Valley Wildlife Sanctuary near Huntsville, Ontario. Canadians heard Buddy's sad tale last week: a Quebec woodsman, seeking a “pet,” snatched the cub from its mother on the Gatineau River, repeatedly running over it with his Jet Ski. The International Fund for Animal Welfare today pledged $1,000 to fund the move.

I still can't help but see red every time I read about this story. It's nice that the bear will survive and be released, but I think they should make the jerk pay for room and board for his 'pet'.
