quote:
National Jewish Front leader Baruch Marzel, now campaigning for the March 28 Knesset election, said Monday the leaders of the Kadima party are "traitors" and "criminals" and called on the Israel Defense Forces to assassinate the far-left leader of the Gush Shalom movement Uri Avnery.

The leaders of the Kadima Pary could sue rabble for libel, and publishing a death threat against Uri Avnery is a violation of Canadain Law.

Your spelling is atrocious. Edit your post, and spell the name of this country correctly. And then shove off!

No, they're the ones who are accused of being "traitors" and "criminals" on this board. Can anyone prove this? If not, it's libel.

No, they're not. If you can't tell the difference between a citation of another person's words from a linked newspaper article (albeit published on that newspaper's website), and an 'accusation on this board', you need to 'eat the fruit of the clue tree'. (Tracy, 2000).

Putz originally meant "decoration" (Schmuck meant "jewellery) - I guess it isn't hard to figure out the Yinglish derivations!

Look at that putz on the camel!

I was under the impression that "shmuck" was the yiddish word for the forskin after it was removed from the penis. I guess I was wrong.

Both schmuck and putz are Yiddish, or at least Yinglish, words for penis, and for a nasty individual. I don't know if the words evolved the same way among other Yiddish-speaking communities. I've never heard any Eastern-European Jewish friends from either France or Argentina use the term.

But back to serious things - I wrote to Uri Avnery in support - you'll find his websites easily on the net.

Heh. I can just hear "putz" being used in place of penis in a non-insulting context.

"Doc, there's something wrong with my putz."

"Oh my, what a big putz you have!"

And now I'm dissolving into giggles thinking about porn dialogue, etc. But I won't go there.

I think I have actually heard one or both of them used that way.

After all, we'll call someone a dick or a prick as an insult, but men will also use them unselfconsciously to refer to their genitals (not prick so much anymore, but I remember it as more common from my youth)

Really? Well, then again, I'm not Jewish and no one in my family speaks Yiddish or Yinglish. So I've only ever heard the words "putz" and "schmuck" used in a derogatory namecalling manner. Which is why it makes me giggle to think of it being used seriously.

"Dick" and "prick" and other words like that for penis are as commonly used by English-only speakers to mean "penis" as "contemptible person", so it just doesn't have the same ring to it as "putz" or "schmuck" does to me.
