quote:
Rumsfeld announced yesterday that the US will reduce its troop strength in Afghanistan next year by between 2,000 and 3,000 soldiers from the current 19,000. He said the troop reduction will not have an adverse mpact on US military operations in Afghanistan,

And guess how they're able to do that? At least partly because we're about to raise our troop commitments significantly, and they are heading into the hot war.

God damn. And God save the people of Afghanistan.

We read this morning, btw, that the new Afghan parliament erupted yesterday over the demands of some members that all warlords in the country (some of whom were sitting there in session) be apprehended.

And of course Karzai's government is still imprisoning women's rights activists simply for speaking freely.

And what do we imagine Rummy and Karzai chatted about yesterday over tea?
