1. This act is regrettable.

2. However, this action is completely and utterly isolated from the almost daily reports of similar malice on the part of IDF soldiers and does not in any way reflect on:

A) The Israeli occupation of Palestine

B) The general moral tenor of the IDF as it carries out its duty in defense against Terror.

3. Those that would try to use this completely and utterly isolated incident -- carried out by a very small group of bad men who represent only the lunatic fringe of Israeli society, of course -- in order to cast a negative light on the Occupation, Israeli policy and/or the Israeli society that supports these things are perilously close to engaging in the most vile, disgusting antisemitism and/or some other equally bad thing that I won't directly say at this time in order to maintain plausible denial against accusations of slander at some later time.

4. Shevchenko who?

We really need a 'snarfing my coffee' smiley. Ow.
You forgot:

5. The fact that an investigation has been announced is proof positive that Israel has a functioning justice system and justice will be served yadda yadda drone drone.

The fact that this was even done in the first place by an IDF soldier just boggles my mind. How selfish and callous can one get?

This incident, added to all the others we've been hearing about over the years, is just another sign that there is a lot of social conditioning going on in Israel with the stated or unstated objective of lowering the status of Palestinians in the eyes of Israelis.
