A pity the article doesn't present any reason *why* the stations were closed down. I mean, with Israel having a functioning and progressive legal apparatus and all that..

Ah. It transpires that the closures were because Israel considers all of Jerusalem to be its capital, and so PA activity within East Jerusalem (which it considers as the future capital of a Palestinian state) is 'illegal'.

I'm betting there's no actual law against that.
