quote:
Vanunu, who is barred from leaving the country and talking to foreign media, has said he would like to move to the United States.

He said Wednesday he wants to revoke his Israeli citizenship, but he must first find a country that will offer him a passport. He said he has approached Ireland, Norway, England, Canada, Denmark and his native Morocco seeking citizenship or asylum, but has received no tangible answers.

We should, provided we can also keep him away from well-meaning publicity shills.

We have something of a history of taking in figures like Vanunu -- I think, eg, of Papandreou during the reign of the Greek colonels. It would be an honourable thing to do, and he would honour us, I have no doubt.

Canada would be the most convenient country for Vannunu's emigration.

Canadian passports are fairly easy to come by in Israel, after all.
