I haven't heard anything about this and it pisses me off. Is it over? Where can I find information about it?

This is a human interest story. It's very important to average Israelis. Yet, all I hear on the CBC is Mike Hornebrook going on and on about suicide bombings and Likud lunatics. I'm sick of hearing about guns and bombs. Let's hear about working-class solidarity for a change! No passaran! I hope I spelled that correctly.

Manufacturers
also oppose cutting into disability pensions,

Well, I'll be Damned, there actually are employers who care about employees.
Of course, this could all be a crass publicity stunt to lure ordinary Israelis into a false sense of security.

Edited to add: I really, really, really don't want anybody to mention The Wall in the occupied territories in this thread. This is supposed to be a perfectly innocent thread about Isreali labor relations. I don't want it to be derailed by impromptu discussions of " the conflict"

Incidentally, if I may be permitted to interpose. I briefly touched on, but did not explore, the issue of Israel cutting back payments in the national insurance scheme (aka "NII" in the budgetary line-items) which apparently go to pensioners and welfare recipients in addition to the monies the ministry of social services gets for, well, I don't know what, but it's a lot of money.

I hope that Netanyahu will wake up and smell the coffee before the Histadrut has to whack him across the nose to get him to see what he's doing to the average Israeli.

My God this thread is old,but I must find out.
What happened with the strike? Did the unions get what they wanted?

1. Did the Israeli government cut the payments to pensioners?

2. Did employers win massive concessions?

3. Is the Histadrut still a force for the benefit of workers or has it become mossbacked like that construction union which disgracefully hired rent-a-picketers?
