Given how little women;s history there is, I though this was important :

Emily Carr Statue

The distinguished artist and writer Emily Carr (1871-1945) was
designated a person of national historic significance by the Government
of Canada in 1950. A project is now underway to commemorate this
remarkable Canadian with a statue in her hometown: Victoria, British
Columbia. A larger than life bronze statue will be sculpted by Barbara
Patterson, the talented Canadian artist who created Famous Five
monuments that now stand on Parliament Hill in Ottawa and in Olympic
Square in Calgary. The Empress Hotel has agreed to welcome the statue on
the grounds of this famous landmark, at the corner of Belleville and
Government streets overlooking the Inner Harbour in downtown Victoria.

To commemorate Emily Carr with a statue, the Parks and Recreation
Foundation of Victoria has launched the Emily Carr Statue Fund. More
than one quarter of the funds have already been collected, and your
donation will ensure that this well-loved Canadian artist is honoured
for contribution to Canadian arts and culture. For more information,
