As of 6.30 this evening there were a few local reports on his 'condition' but none on any national outlet or newswire*. Here is one of them.

Methinks there is a Queen Mother** strategy ready from the major networks and newspapers.

*From checking Lexis-Nexis and Google News

**For years, the BBC had a plan for the eventual death of the Queen Mother. They had to keep updating it, because she hung on in there. Part of it was used after Diana's death. It was actually very very detailed and much of the footage was prepackaged and ready to go.

I can't wait to hear what silly thing he has to say at the funeral.

To paraphrase Bette Davis:

I was always told to speak good about the dead.

Strom Thurmond is dead.

Good.

This blogger put an interesting perspective on it:

SODOMY LEGAL IN SOUTH CAROLINA: Strom Thurmond dead. On the same day. It's a funny old world, isn't it?
