The thing thats nonsensical about that article is that no one has maintained any of those "lessons" were ever given any credibility.

No one has ever said that we should treat N.Korea, Syria or Iran the same.

1. They couldn't assert Iraqi occupation would be easy, since they don't want to occupy it and want to establish Iraqi self gov't.

2.In fact The administration has said they should be treated separately.

3. Many in Iraq were happy that they were liberated. No one asserted this meant that "Arab street" would all of a sudden change its attitude towards the U.S. But to assert that in a few years terrorism will result is completely dependent on what the future of Iraq holds.

4. I defy anyone to quote an authority on the right asserting this "lesson". Maybe some columnist or radio talk show host said this. But its far from U.S. policy.

Whats going on? if you can't argue with what the Bush administration asserts then fabricate assertions that you can argue with.
