I've been curious about this too. Typically, Socialist Worker and similar publications like to trumpet news of 5 or 10 or 20 soldiers at Fort Hood or wherever who refuse to fight, and end up in the brig. Haven't been able to find anything so far, at least not on-line. (What, you think I'd buy the Socialist Worker?)

it would be devastating to the Bush government if that type of info got out to the public. There must be at least a few US refuseniks? Or are they too afraid?

I don't think it would be devastating, any more than this so-called "fragging" by a Muslim American soldier has proved devastating.

Nor do I think it would get much play. Press self-censorship -- the desire not to be seen as unpatriotic by giving space to "cowards," "traitors," etc. -- would take care of that. Besides, I doubt most reporters -- the kind who work for for major media outlets, at least -- would be able to take refuseniks seriously enough to produce coherent stories about them.
