...when the British or Americans announce casualty figures that one can count on one hand, the Iraqi's turn around and do something like show television pictures of dead American or British soldiers and their soldiers in custody.

The dead soldiers lay on a road near the wreckage of a vehicle and their bodies were kicked as Iraqis clambered over what appeared to be a Land Rover. They were killed near Az Zubayr, 15 miles from Basra.

The captives, both black males, were paraded before the cameras.

Two men captured by Iraq and shown on TV are civilian lorry drivers employed to deliver food to Iraqi prisoners of war, the Ministry of Defence has said.


The MoD says the dead men shown by al-Jazeera are thought to be soldiers who went missing during fighting around al-Zubayr, near the southern city of Basra.
