Nanotech is a fast growing field that will undoubtedly be debated in a big way on the site and other places.

This seems to be one positive result from it. Diamonds, indestinguishable from 'natural ones' can be made using nanotech processes. They apparently will cost somewhere between 5-20% of what diamonds sell for today.

This has two big positives:
1.It could mean the end of the DeBeers cartel. I'm normally a cautious person not given to wild charges, but, to put it bluntly, DeBeers is about as evil as a corporation can get.

2.Diamonds, though best known as ornamental, have many practical, industrial uses. According to this article, they will be used in computers and will vastly increase computer power.
