Masturbation may prevent prostate cancer

SUMMARY: Researchers find that men who masturbate frequently are at a reduced risk of cancer.

excerpt:

Frequent masturbation may help men cut their risk of contracting prostate cancer, Australian researchers have found. It is believed that carcinogens may build up in the prostate if men do not ejaculate regularly, BBC News reported on Wednesday. The researchers surveyed more than 1,000 men who had developed prostate cancer, and 1,250 men who had not. They found that men who had ejaculated the most between the ages of 20 and 50 were the least likely to get cancer. Men who ejaculated more than five times each week were a third less likely to develop prostate cancer.

comment: Jay Leno had fun with this last night - if it's true that frequent masturbation prevents cancer, how could there be any prostate cancer at all?

ps: this was also reported in 2003 but it seems to have been ignored.

excerpt:

"If these findings hold up, then it's perfectly reasonable that men should be encouraged to masturbate," he says.

pps: someone should tell the Vatican.

You're missing the really important point. Presumably, more sex would have the same effect as onanism. Therefore, I predict the following will be heard much more often in households ...

"Honey, you don't want me to get prostate cancer, do you?"

The answer could be "We-e-e-e-ll" + pregnant pause that would make a point about rape in marriage...
But you are right: this will be used worldwide to snicker about men's alleged "need to get enough"...

Which reminds me of that stupid joke.

A guy goes in to the doctor and the doctor finds a fairly serious heart condition. The doctor asks to speak to the man's wife. He says to her " Your husband is really fragile right now, for the next six months until the medication takes hold, you need to make sure he has no stress. keep the house really neat and just the way he likes it, cook his favourite foods, serve him as much as possible, make sure he gets sex just the way he wants it and as often as he wants it. Any little upset or stress could kill him."

The wife takes it all in and goes back out to the waiting room. Her husband says "What did he say." She says " He says you're gonna die for sure."
