I hear there's a damning report in there on CPC MP James Moore from BC. Including some jokes he told on the internet about "faggots" and "lesbians". Anyone have it?

And I was going to ask you!

I checked at my place of work (Staples) and we have lots of Magazine but not Frank. I'll need to check Chapters and Save-On... if I do find a copy, I'll PM you

James Moore has said some pretty nasty things on the Internet.

He actually used the E-Mail address he posted under when he did so the first time he ran and was elected for the Canadian Alliance, as was discussed here in a different topic.

Has Charley King brought it up yet?

How do you know it is the real James Moore 'chatting on the internet' and could you provide the link and source please.

Maybe everyone should get their facts correct before spreading rumours.

James Moore was the guest speaker at the nomination of Gary Mitchell in the Vancouver Centre riding. (Gary Mitchell is openly gay, and in favour of same sex marriage, but focuses his campaign on economic issues.

There is an article on page A3 of the Vancouver Sun discussing Gary's candidacy. In it Moore is quoted as being very much in favour of Gary's candidacy as it shows that the conservatives are a big tent party that welcomes a wide spectrum of thought.

I quote from the article;
" I just think its good to have people from different walks of life stepping forward and saying 'I think this party can govern, because a true governing party has to reflect the nation" said Moore " And Gary Mitchell and the gay and lesbian communities are certainly part of that."

I just visited Mr Moore's website. Here's where he stands on the issues:

Aboriginal Affairs: Coming soon! (ironic, what?)

Transportation: Destroy domestic airline service in Canada; cut the regressive air tax (I'm with him there); fight organized crime at ports (I thought he was running for MP, not police chief!)

Gas Taxes: Transfer them to provinces (I agree)

Immigration: Coming soon!

Marriage: He's only doing the will of his constituents when he votes against equality. What a cop-out.

Street Racing: Against, I think. What this has to do with the price of eggs in China, I don't know. I'm starting to think that Moore should run for police chief.

Environment: Coming Soon! (more like Dying Soon!, given Harper's positions)

Leaky Condos: “MP James Moore is to be congratulated for trying to help leaky condo owners.” (I think he views this as a positive review!)

Health Care: It looks like he supports fully funded federal medicare. Does he even know what party he's in?

Grow Ops: He doesn't like them. (Police Chief)

Child Porn: He doesn't like it. Not really much of an issue, considering.

Democratic Reform: More seats for BC, an elected Senate. No mention of PR.

Gun Registry: Abolish it. (no argument here)

International Trade: Pro-free trade. Solve the softwood lumber dispute (no word on how. Maybe he'll put Paul Celluci into a full nelson until Paul says 'I give'?)

National Defence: Supports the wasteful, stupid, led-by-a-moron missile defence system.

Senior's Issues: Seniors are an important part of society. Well duh!

Criminal Justice: Since he wants so badly to be a police chief, he takes the same line as Canada's more famous police chiefs on all justice issues (more punishment = less crime. No mention of fixing societal ills to lessen crime.)

Finance: Make debt-paying a priority. Would that rank ahead of or behind properly funding health care?
Eliminate corporate welfare. Again, I ask him if he knows what party he is in.

Fisheries: Coming soon! (more accurately - Disappearing fast!)

I know her.

She's a friend of Adam Yoshida's.

Incidentally, here's another winner from Tojo's spiritual successor:

"Those responsible for the death of a single American should pay for their crimes not only with an eternity spent in Hell, but also with their own blood and the annihilation of everything they hold dear in this world. If God wishes, he may show mercy upon their wretched souls, but we should not."

Now let's say it the way an Islamist would say the same quote:

"Those responsible for the death of a single Palestinian should pay for their crimes not only with an eternity spent in Hell, but also with their own blood and the annihilation of everything they hold dear in this world. If Allah wishes, he may show mercy upon their wretched souls, but we should not."

James Moore has some scary friends.

For all his hollering about God though. Yoshida doesn't realise that a true Christian would capitalise pronouns referring to Him.

Oh, lord. Rachel Marden? Speaking as someone from SFU where she did her stalking gig (and if I remember right, tried to ruin her stalkee's career by accusing *him* of harassment; if there hadn't been a fair amount of electronic evidence left lying around, she'd have succeeded too), that girl is freakin' nuts. And apparently self-absorbed and narcissistic as hell. Moore went out with her? What an idiot.

Heh. I saw a daVinci's inquest episode which basically had this storyline. A professor was a suspect in one of his female student's murder. It turned out that she had been stalking him continually, and had somehow framed the professor in her own death after some sort of refusal on his part. During the campus interviews, they discovered that the student was obsessive and insane, more or less. (I wasn't paying close attention to the show, actually)

I guess the writers of that episode were familiar with Ms. Marsden.

I will have to get back later with additional details. You may remember that Rachel Marsden was charged in late 2002 with criminal harassment. Her trial was at one point scheduled for this January, but has been delayed. I will try to get more details in a few days. Her lawyer at one point was Ian Donaldson, who also defended one Dimitri Pilarinos.

As for the SFU case, one thing Marsden did that was quite useful was to put up on her old website a copy of the so-called "panel report" into her charges against the swim coach. It's a frightening thing to read, straight out of 17th Century Salem. And that the illogic and non-sequiters and stereotypical nonsense in this "document" were written largely by a computer science professor, ... well, it kind of makes you wonder.

Many of the people at SFU who championed Marsden's case in 1997, even after it became perfectly obvious who was harassing whom, were left-wing feminists. Some kept calling for the dismissal of the swim coach regardless of the revelations in the media. So did a nationally known feminist commentator and broadcaster, referring to him in a column as guilty of date rape, no matter what.

These people must now be furious that Marsden has become a commercial right-wing screed writer in the U.S., the handmaiden of such incredible characters as Ann Coulter. And they must be waiting nervously for the upcoming trial, not sure of what Marsden might say.

My point, Scribblet, is that you have to smarten up. I don't know you, and if there are factors that are beyond your control, then I apologise in advance. I'm not really a mean person. But you have to understand that the reality you create for yourself is based on the information you take in. And some of it is complicated, some of it is parody or sarcarsm (Frank) and some of it is propaganda (Washington Times).

The worst thing you can do is to assume you know everything about something and to refuse to entertain facts or opinion that challenge what you think it is you know. None of us knows anything. Not you, not me.

That's all.

Yes, it sure does. But as I have met the guy, I will say that he seems nice. He's offered me a private tour of the House and all kinds of neat stuff while I'm in Ottawa.

That doesn't stop me from wanting to end him politically. Also, I don't like these allegations of things that he wrote. However, I'm not going to take accusations that I am any kind of defender of him lightly. I am working against him politically, and will do anything to see that he cannot pick up a pension.

I'm just not willing to allow myself to go into personal attacks. We here don't want people attacking Svend for what he did, and I'm not so friggin hypocritical that I'm going to attack Moore for what he did. (the supposed B&E) What he said in the public domain, however - is fair game. That's why I use my real name when I post on Rabble, eh WCS?

He'll also give you a b.j. while in Ottawa if he feels it could get him a vote (or a campaign volunteer). That's exactly the kind of guy Moore is. If he gets re-elected, he'll disappear once again into the woodwork on Parliament Hill and his constituents, once again, won't be able to find him to save their lives.

One of my biggest pet peeve's this year has become people who meet a politician a few times, or worse once with a short handshake, and think they know that person on a personal level.

Give me a break. Like ^ said its election year, and they're POLITICIANS for gods sake: as IF they're going to be rude to you, especially if your are a constituent. What kills me is when someone does something bad, and someone who shook their hand once defends them to the end for being 'such a nice person in real life'. Please, spare us your opinion. You know that person as well as someone who's never laid eyes on him in person. Even if you worked for their party, or on the Hill, or whatever, you don't know them on 'a personal level'.
