Bad news from Denmark. We've just had a general election. It gave the right wing huge gains. So, they are forming the new government. Unfortunately they have to depend on an extremist, racist party to get an absolute majority in Parliament. Now we can look forward to a massive attack on the welfare state - and on refugees and immigrants. Social Democrats went down and the left wing had the poorest result since 1964.

Yikes! Well we sort of saw it coming in Denmark for a while, but still. At least YOU have an EU passport.

Faroe Islands are a territory of Denmark, I think in the North Atlantic, between Iceland and Norway. I'm not sure if that's what you were asking, but...

As a Dane ( and Canadian first ) I have been keenly following the issues in Denmark and it really saddens me how the Danish people, who used to be one of the most progressive, are turning on immigrants and refugees.

Not to worry, the Social Democrats in Denmark had a long reign by European standards. In fact, Poul Nyrup was one of the longest serving PMs in Europe. The Social Democrats will be back. They are still strong, they were just seen by the people as having been in government too long.

One thing that the social democrats in Europe have done quite sucessfully is entering into international trade systems and institutions and socially democratizing them.
